Welcome to the Catskills!
Here are some things you can do while you’re here.
-
Go for a hike!
There are some fantastic hiking trails in the area. Pazia recommends Slide Mountain or Mount Tremper in Phoenicia, driving to Minnewaska State Park, or climbing the Lemon Squeeze in Mohonk Preserve.
-
The World's Largest Kaleidoscope
Feeling trippy? The Emerson Resort, just down the road from the Diner, boasts the world’s largest kaleidoscope. Lay back and let your senses take flight.
-
Explore Woodstock
Phoenicia is very close to this historic town that has maintained its hippie vibes. Wander around town, get some meatballs from Sharky’s, attend a community drum circle, or visit the world’s coolest candle shop.
-
Rail Explorers: Catskills
Pedal in the forest along the Esopus Creek on the Ulster and Delaware River. We’ve never been but it looks fantastic!
-
Check out a local brewery
The Catskills are known for lots of cute local breweries. Check out Woodstock Brewing, just down the street from the Diner, or there is also West Kill Brewing, Kingston Standard, and Keegan Ales a little further.
-
Go vintage shopping
The Catskills is probably one of the best places to vintage shop, period. In Woodstock, check out Rock City Vintage, Three Turtle Doves, or Fiona, or head into Kingston to go to Red Owl Collective or Kingson Consignments.
-
Fish in Esopus Creek
The Esopus Creek is a great place to fish for trout. Make sure you grab a fishing license!
-
Take a boat tour
Head out to Kingston and hop on a boat! Kingston is known as a sailing hub. You can do a private charter, take a cruise with Hudson River Cruises, or check out the Hudson River Maritime Museum.
-
Go to the Emerson's Spa
Need a little R&R? The Emerson has a variety of spa services. Make sure you book in advance!
